“Do Not” Mantra

A Poem about Covid. Maybe.

Do not hug

Do not touch.

Do not share.

Do not come close.

Do not shake hands.

Do not kiss.

Do not sing together.

Do not grieve together.

Do not celebrate together.

Do not hold the other.

Do not invite strangers into your house

At sundown

Even if they happen to be angels.

Do not step over the threshold

If not sanitized,

Purified.

Sterilized.

Sanctified.

Simplified.

How can you accuse me of anything these days?

After applying so much disinfectant

My hands are clean.

See?
